In the Childrens Bible drill coaches are actually preparing the children for bible drill
competitions. Drillers will continue to learn the books of the bible, however now they will also begin to learn scripture and how to find it.They will
also continue to learn the rules and procedures of a bible drill (ie. present bible, start, time, ect.). There is also a wonderful activity book and Leaders
pack available through Life Way Christian Book Store that is full of fun activities and Learning experiences for the childrens bible drill.The
children in the Childrens Bible drill compete in three drills. They will have to achieve a minimum score requirement in their home church drill. The church should then award them with a certificate of achievement. The suggested
date for the Childrens Bible drill is two weeks prior to your Associations Associational Drill. If they achieve
the minimum score required their results should be sent to the appropriate associational office so they can compete at the associational level. At the associational
level the children must achieve a minimum score to proceed on to the State Level. If the children achieve the minimum score required their scores must be sent
to the BGCT office in Dallas. The children will then compete in one last drill. This drill will be the Childrens state level drill. Awards at this level.

The coach calls a book of the bible, after the comman 'start', if the driller knows the book before the book called, the book called, and the book after the book called
he/she must find it in his/her bible, place his/her finger anywhere in the book and step forward before time is called.If called upon a driller should be able to state
the book before the book called, the book called, and the book after the book called
Childrens drillers have 10 seconds to step over the line after start is called.

The coach calls a key passage from this years list, after the command 'start', if the driller knows the reference they must find it in his.her
bible, place his/her index finger on the verse and step forward
before time is called. If called upon a driller should be able to state the Key Biblical Passage and it's reference.
The coach then states 'please read Chapter___ and verse ____' The driller must then read the passage indicated and state it's scripture reference.
Childrens drillers have 10 seconds to step over the line after start is called.

before time is called. If called upon a driller should be able to state the verse from memory and it's scripture reference.

In the Completion drill coaches are to call out the underlines portion of the verse listed in this years scripture references. If the child knows the
entire verse from memory and it's scripture reference they must step over the line before time is called. If called upon the child must be able to state
the scripture verse in it's entirety from memory and it's scripture reference.

You will need a Timer Person with a quiet stop watch preferable one that counts down, 3judges,
the Coach, An awards presenter, enough small sheets of paper to give each driller a number
and some masking tape
Use masking tape to draw a line across the stage for drillers to step across.
Next write a large number on each sheet of paper, write the childs name on the back side of the samll sheet of paper, and pin a number on each of the drillers.
All drillers are on stage standing behind the line.

DRILL:
Coach words will be in bold.
'Attention'
All drillers stand up straight, no talking, eyes on coach, hands at sides
We will begin this Childrens Bible Drill with a word of prayer. Please bow your heads. Coach or someone appointed by coach before hand prays
These children have worked very hard so I must ask you to observe a few rules while we are in competition. First, please turn off all cell phones, pagers,
tv's, cd players, mp3 players, and cameras. There will be a time after the drill for pictures. Second, once the drill has started I have to ask you not to
get up from your seat until the drill is over. And last please be in quiet prayer for these kids. Thank You. Okay, we have four differentr types of drills: The book drill, the Key Biblical
Passage Drill, The Quotation Drill, and the Completion Drill. Our first Drill will be the BOOK DRILL. I will give the name of a book of the bible, and you will find the book. Place your index
finger on any verse in the book named and step forward before time is called. When called upon, you will name the book before the one named, the book named, and the book after the one named.
Present Bibles.
Exodus.(pause to give the children time to think.)
Start. The timer now starts the stop watch. At the end of 10 seconds, the timer will call out 'Time'.
After time has been called
Number 3
The child wearing number 3 will answer loudly 'Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus'
That is correct (or if incorrect say'I'm sorry that is incorrect' and give another child an opportunity to get it right)
attention. Do this drill for 6 calls. After the 6 calls say
you may relax
We will now have the Key Biblical Passage Drill. I will give the title of a Key Biblical Passage taken from the list.
You will find the passage in the bible, place your index finger on any verse in the passage and step forward before time runs out.
After time has been called If called upon I will ask you to state the Key Biblical Passage and its reference and then I will ask
you to reade a verse from that passage.
Attention.
Present Bible.
The Creation.(pause to let them think for a moment.)
start.The timer now starts the stop watch. At the end of 10 seconds, the timer will call 'Time',
After time has been called
Number 1
The child wearing number 1 will answer loudly 'The Creation: Genesis 1-2:3'
Thank YOu Number 1 please read chapter 1 verse 22The child wearing number1 will answer loudly
'And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.'

We will now have the Quotation calls. I will call a scripture reference taken from the list. If you know the verse and it's reference by memory, step
forward before time is called. If called upon you will state the scripture reference and quote the verse from memory.

Romans 14:12. (pause to let them think for a moment.)
start.The timer now starts the stop watch. At the end of 10 seconds, the timer will call 'Time',

Number 5
The child wearing number 5 will answer loudly'Romans 14:12 So then everyone of us shall give account of himself to God.

attention. Do this drill for 6 calls. After the 6 calls say

And Finally, we will have the Completion Calls. I will call a piece of a verse listed on the card. When you know the entire verse and it's scripture reference step forward before time
is called. If called upon you will state the scripture reference and qoute the verse from memory.

Number 4
The child wearing number 4 will answer loudly'1Corinthians 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.'

you may relax. This concludes the Childrens Bible Drill
If the Children will please have a seat on the front row, the judges will go tally their scores and we will annouce those who are advancing to the next level. Thank You.
Have it prearranged for a song leader to come forward here and lead the congregation in a couple songs while the judges are counting up the scores.

Then the Awards Presenter will call a childs number and name and state whether or not he will be advancing..
For example; 'Number 4 Charlie Andrews will be advancing to the Associational Level' The child will come to
the stage and recieve his award and then go be seated with his/her
family.
